«And in the Mountains which the Moon hath hight
He clasps frore Cintra to his hard embrace;
Cintra, whose Naiads love to hide their light
By hidden founts and fly the honey'd lace,
Which Love hath woven 'mid the hills where flow
The waters flaming with a living lowe.»
Luis Vaz de Camões, Os Lusíadas III
When he was young, Camões owned the world, living an adventurous and bohemic life, conquering hearts and falling madly in love. Also about fire and water is the music of G. Handel, interpreted by the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa (Youth Portuguese Orchestra), conducted by the also youthful maestro Pedro Carneiro.
Youth, water and fire, the musical tribute to the Portuguese Kings that turned the Vila Palace into their refuge.
